Ah, that was my favorite character select screen. I wish yuo could pick and choose your char select screens, the EotN one looks horrible on my ocmputer. Loot scaling really ruined the game for me too.

i like the screen that was introduced during the Factions PvP Weekend Preview. The one that your charcter was standing on a post thing and the backround had all the different land-types cycling through. Where you saw mountains and volcanos.

Sorry for such a long post.
Regardless of what people say I like these threads, if just to remember. I still play the game and have been playing since the first open beta. I like the game, yes I regret some things that have changed but overall, I still think this game rocks and my addiction is still healthy.
I remember when three friends and myself made our first guild. It was near Halloween during the beta so we used Black and orange as the colours and the spider symbol. It was ugly as sin. The guilds didn't use capes then, they used a smock or tabard style thing to wear. Capes didn't exist.
I remember also something about necklaces and amulets that I could NEVER get to work at all. It really pissed me off that I could get them to work.
I remember when the geography of Post-searing Ascalon did not match the geography of Pre-searing and I thought to myself that was really dumb.
I recall that in the very early game gold was so very very difficult to find and I had no stash, or I didn't know they existed. Platinum didn't exist, there was only gold and I could never find very much. I NEVER saw more that 30 or 40 GP drop at once.
I remember seeing my first level 20 character running around Ascalon City a few days after the game went live and I was very impressed and wondered what they could do.
I do regret how PUGs became more a game of tolerance than fun, I do remember that being a mesmer in the early days that when I got invited into a group I knew they were good players because no one who didn't know the game EVER invited Mesmers into their group. The only people who played with Mesmers were those who actually knew their usefulness and knew how to use them in the group. Almost every PUG I went into would stand around for a few minutes before each mission and discuss the mission and strats to succeed. This was all the more vital because there existed no wiki et al and we had to actually try the mission a few time...sometimes several dozen times to get through it. What I liked best is often the very same people would stay in the same pug mission after mission all day and at the end would add each other to our f-list just because we so enjoyed each other's game play.
I don't have the patience to stand around waiting for groups to form anymore, BUT when I do, they are usually tolerable and not as bad as I think they are going to be.
My Most memorable time playing GW was just after Factions was released I built my first monk and I was experimenting with him and I decided that I liked Protection better than healing and we did the Vizunah Square Mission and after we got the Masters reward four of the members of the team just up and gave me 1000 gold each because they thought I did an awesome job. That made me feel so good and I don't get that a lot no of days, but it still happens every now and then.
EDIT <--- I forgot to say That I think I preferred the time when you couldn't see the health of the monster you were fighting or what they were casting. You had to recognise the animation of each spell to be able to distinguise what it was casting and what spell/skill you needed to use to disrupt it.
I have come to realise that the game will never stay static and will always evolve and sometime I won't like what changes are made but I adapt and I adjust to meet the challenge. I love this game, still, after almost three years.

Wow, so many good memories of Guild Wars. Lets see if I can bring up one or two more.
I remember when groups of players would actually talk about the upcoming mission; planning strategy, determine who, if anyone actually knew the mission.
I remember when rage quitters were very rare; some people believed they did not exist.
I remember when saying “Thank you” was common.
I remember when players respected each other and addressed each other by name.
I remember long and often desperate fights to make it to the next town, and once you made it everyone would say “Good Job.” I can not count how many times we decided to do the next mission together, and got it the first try.
I remember when teamwork was common place.
I remember taking a level 6 Ranger/Monk with two other people to Lions Arch, fighting all the way. The ranger was level 12 when we got there.
Most of all, I remember actually enjoying playing Guild Wars. I miss those days.

I miss hanging out at "the end of the world" as we called it. The glitch where you could leave Granite, but not actually map out. Could go all the way past where the Mineral Springs portal is.

There's like eighteen of those still in existence. Example would be the Northern Wall one, although that's inside of the mission. I miss the Lutgardis glitch, I do. u.u
Who remembers Amnoon Arch of last December?

The first time I got to THK was with my Ranger. Tried to do the mission in a PUG 20 times, all failing...
Finally got it on the 21st, with henchies...
Wow...
100k Sup Abs, 70k Sup Vigor, Refund Points, all the "cool" builds like Paladin, Snowman, Flame Slinger thing with Greater Conflagration or whatever that would be considered crap these days, etc...
When people actually did the Prophecies missions instead of running through them...ahh, the good old days.

I remember when a Ranger directed the party to total victory in THK stationing a wamo in each gate, an ele over each gate, a person each side to run the cats, himself in the middle as support, and a monk to camp the king. It was flawless, and I have never seen it since.
I remember when MMs could run a gorgeous platoon of undead, lined up behind them in perfect miliatary formation.
I remember being able to make a k per round cleaning out gargoyles and scale outside Gates of Kryta.

I remember when they changed the way damage was shown and how i thought i would never adapt....i remember when they fixed the armor bug and made -x only good against physical damage...and how Warriors would never be worth a shit again...I remember when i first got the game back in Apr 06 and researched on how to progress and stumbling upon guru and crossingtyria..and how Lion's Arch sounded so magnificent...I remember a guy doing a free run in one of the desert missions and i thought he was god like. I remember someone showing me how to do the troll run...and how much money i thought i was making by doing it....I remember when gold items weren't guaranteed to be perfect weapons....i can remember buying up non perfect weapons before NF hopeing i could add inscriptions to them and make a killing! I remember when +30hp mods were 10's of thousands of gold...and how you had to be lucky to salvage a good mod from an item.
